Front Porch Improv
As much as I adore food, and I do adore it, I have been saying it is time to explore and write about more of what Savannah has to offer. And in this case, some local comedians! Comedy is something that AMAZES me. I can teach fitness all day, but the thought of spending even 30 seconds in front of a group of strangers and tell a joke that doesn't start with “knock knock” is enough to get me weak in the knees. So let me start by saying kudos to all performers, I applaud you and your ability to put yourself out there.
If you didn’t know, I have been teaching for Pure Barre Savannah for a couple months now. And this week (1/9) they hosted a double class event at Front Porch Improv. We showed up in our finest 80s workout attire, took two (social distanced) shortened intensive classes, and got to enjoy two mini shows put on by the staff at Front Porch. It is improv so they use the audience for suggestions for topics, having something so interactive adds another level of talent in my mind.
Supporting local includes your local artists. I can only assume that being a performer during the pandemic has not been easy. If you are here and want to spend your Friday or Saturday night doing something hilarious head here, Front Porch Improv Theatre, 210 W Victory Drive, Savannah GA 31405. If you don’t feel comfortable going out but still want to support, you can buy a $10 ticket and watch their shows live via Zoom! Even after the two shows in the morning I still went and bought a Zoom ticket to watch the 90 minute live show last night at 8pm. I had laundry to fold so it was the perfect way to get my chores done and listen to some local comedians.
Plus, one of the owners goes to Pure Barre and has been kicking butt, so I felt it was important to show support to him as well!
