Sav Day 11

One of the things I miss about living in the Hudson Valley is the fall. My love of hiking, foliage, and apple cider donuts runs deep. Even though since it it second summer here, I am trying to bring in some fall touches. After seeing a friend go here, we headed to Hester and Zipperer Lawn & Garden. It is funny because where I grew up in New York has pumpkin patches and apple orchards all over, it is just not like that here. Since this was more of a storefront we didn’t pick our pumpkins but we did find some Georgia grown pumpkins and gourds and I was happy with that.

I am not telling you anything earth shattering when I tell you it is hot and humid in Savannah. It is cool to see the different plant life available here though, things that thrive in this coastal environment vs the North East.

Even Miss Kaley (possibly treat motivated) was pretty excited.

I am humbled by how hard farmer’s work. The time and effort it must take to grow field and fields of pumpkins (or any kind of crop) and then coordinate to transport it to stores and people or places that need them is truly humbling. Doing our small part to support local farmers; buying from them, sharing their product, is so important.

Thanks for tuning in.
