Sav Day 8

Thursdays for me start off with a 7 am core class. We all know how easy it is to hit the snooze button and skip it sometimes, and don’t me wrong I have done it, but as a teacher I truly appreciate when people get up to move with me. And let me be clear, I truly appreciate anytime someone chooses to get on their mat with me. There is some immense gratitude that goes with teaching movement or fitness, at least for me.

Exercise in American culture is quite often is looked at as something we “have to” do, “I ate a donut, time to go the the gym” or “How long do I have to be on the treadmill to burn off the carbs I just had”. It absolutely bums me out when I hear people use exercise as a means of punishment. Being able to wake up, breath, move your body, flow, walk, run, bike, lift weights, whatever it is is what your human body was meant to do- we are meant to move. If you haven’t found the movement that works for you, I promise you something is out there. There is something that shakes something up inside, something that beckons a deeper release, we all just have to find our thing.

I hope that we all get to view exercise one day is a celebration of not only our physical but our mental strength. Maybe its cliche? But my core believes that, it is what motivates me every single day to show up as a student and teacher. If you have taken my classes you have heard my motivational cues, so you know what I am talking about. Back to my original point, Thursday started with 7am core, 10 am Fire Flow, shipping merchandise, random errands, and blah blah blah. Long story short, this afternoon I found myself at Shuga Girl cafe.

These afternoon coffee runs seem to be a regular thing for me, a habit I am thinking I should break. Well maybe not, maybe after these first 31 days are over? We will see. But anyways, Shuga Girl was a sweet little spot with sweet, eats, bubble tea, and coffee drinks. I, once again, got myself an iced latte and a scone.

Blueberry this time, I guess I am somewhat of a habitual creature.

Even though I am not into flavored drinks, they had good choices. I like when a menu is smaller, leads me to believe they aren’t buying high amounts of product and letting it just sit in the back, but taking more care with better quality.

We live pretty close to the downtown area of Savannah and of course it has it touristy spots, what city doesn’t, and it is fun to find these little places that aren’t those. Looking forward to day 9, but not rushing it, everyday has been awesome. Thanks for reading!
