Sav Day 9
Friday! Friday night is date night for Leo and I. I plan our meals for the whole week, grocery shop accordingly, and we both really look forward to a Friday night out. Although with the start of this blog I have been getting food out quite a bit more, but this is our time to get out together. Right after he is done with work for the day, we head out..
We went for some wood fired pizza at Squirrel’s. I do not want to be that New Yorker that always says things like “fuggedaboutit the water in New York is so much better its the only place you can get good pizza”. Yes, of course, there is amazing pizza in New York, but there is always great pizza elsewhere, just different! We loved our pizza at Squirrel’s. It was thin crust, nice and crispy bottom, with that signature charring wood fire gives. There were a good handful of solid options, and not too many to where its overwhelming or the paradox of choice begins to kick in.
Leo ordered the Five O. The toppings were mango dusted with Ancho Chile, fresh lime juice, pepperoni, and scallions
I order a Benny Blanco; a white pizza made with fresh mozzarella, Parmesan, rosemary, lemon argumato, and extra virgin olive oil.
We were able to walk there from our apartment. We sat outside because even though a little hot, the weather in Savannah is still beautiful, still feels like late summer into October. But the inside of the place had some sweet booths, and if you wanted to go for drinks it has a full bar.
Also needed to include this picture just to show how thin this crust was! You can eat the whole 11” pie and not feel gross after.
I really love pizza, like really it is the best food. I love to ask people if you could only eat 3 foods for the rest of your life what would they be? For me it is pizza, green smoothies, and chocolate covered strawberries. On that note I invite you to think about your three foods. Enjoy your day, thank you for reading!
