Sav Day 14
Time for a little catch up. October 14th called for breakfast sandwiches. BECSPK? If you know what that means, then you are most likely a New Yorker. If that acronym makes no sense to you; Bacon, egg, and cheese, salt, pepper, ketchup. The volume of BECSPK on a hard roll I ate while in high school or college would probably floor me if I actually knew the number. You could go to any deli and order one. It was a reliable sandwich and it cost like $2. It wasn’t until the first time I moved out of New York (back in 2015 I moved to Tennessee for a couple years), that I realized that breakfast sandwiches aren’t eaten in the same volume as the North East does.
Where am I going with this? It was recommenced to me to try Big Bon Bodega over here in my neighborhood. Where you go for hand crafted wood fired bagels. Quick note, a bodega here isn’t the same connotation as in NYC. Here it is clean and you don’t just go there for a random orange juice that may or not be sour. This is where you go for artisanal breakfast sandwiches.
They are currently closed for indoor seating but you order through their counter at the front and there is plenty of seating outside. You can choose from their menu, specials, or make your own. I didn’t get a picture before I ate mine (I know what a blogging sin), but I had egg and pimento cheese (how Southern right?) on a sesames bagel and I got Leo the special; prosciutto, arugula, kalamata olive + sun-dried tomato cream cheese with balsamic vinaigrette. We really jazzed up the typical BECSPK. Also a sweet selection of locally roasted coffees. It was good, if you are a Yankee like me and want a breakfast sandwich in the South, check this place out.
