Sav Day 28
Is it too basic to say something like another day another coffee shop? I swear this will be the last one for the blog but today’s business was yet again another cafe. I mean it when I say I think its the best coffee in Savannah, at least the most European (which is a huge compliment). After this initial set of blog posts I am going to make the ten best coffee spots in Sav, starting with Le Cafe Gourmet.
The owners of this cafe moved from France in 2016 and opened this spot downtown. If you have been to Europe, in particular France, you know that the French are snobs about their coffee. And I mean that in the best way possible, it’s an incredibly important thing to be a snob about. Full disclosure, this spot is not new to me, so I already was aware of the greatness. I had probably been here a good ten times in previous visits to Savannah. I am not sure if its just me, but I have never had a single thing here that wasn’t absolutely delicious. Their pastries, sandwiches, breads, coffee, and espresso drinks. Some places serve a purpose, they caffeinate or feed you, they are more transactional. And then some places, like Le Cafe Gourmet for me, are memorable, something you crave and look forward to. I swear to you I am not drumming this up for the blog, I really love this place, and I consider myself a little snobby as well, so this means a lot to me.
I bought two pastries; a chocolate almond croissant and hazelnut Nutella braid. I had every single intention of saving half of each for Leo, but I didn’t. Without shame I am here to tell you I ate them both, one half of each for breakfast and one half of each for lunch. (maybe don’t tell Leo if you talk to him? He likes this place too and might be a little disappointed). There is something new every time I have been, and look forward to trying more of their menu items while I am here in Savannah. Is it wrong I literally want to go back right now and get something else? This time I might try harder to save some for my fiancee. If I leave now I can make it before they close. So… ciao!
